SOUTH WISE SERVICES (SWS)
FOOD PANTRY
Who Are We?
SWS
is a non-profit Christian organization. SWS began 22 years ago as
out-reach mission to support and meet the food needs of the community.
We
currently provide food and clothing to approximately 841 people per
month in 11 communities. Our services also include financial assistance
with utilities and prescriptions.
We
have a Clothes Closet!!
|
Our Vision
Our
mission is to provide emergency food and clothing to individuals and
families who are economically disadvantaged due to unemployment,
disability, and/or social security dependent. Assistance with
prescription and utility costs are provided when funding levels allow.
All services are provided 100%
by volunteers.
Welcome individuals desiring to
fulfill Community Service requirements.
We have the opportunity to
provide Christian counseling and support. |
Number Assisted
Services are provided to clients 18 years of age and older regardless of
race, sex, national origin or religious background and meet TEXCAP
Income Eligibility Guidelines.
We
serve 199 clients, each month, who are disabled or senior citizens and
are at or below poverty level and will continue to need assistance
indefinitely.
The current forecast of the
economic times does not appear to be improving for many families. In
2009, food was distributed to 628 families (10,095 people). 149
households have received Financial Assistance. Already four months into
2010, we have provided 438 families (3,058 people) food. 80 households
have received Financial Assistance. |
Allocation of Funds
South Wise Services provides on average 88% of
services back to the communities in the form of assistance for food,
utility bills and prescriptions. The average cost for food through
Tarrant Area Food Bank runs around 12 cents per pound. Our operations
costs for expenses and utilities account for 12% of our funds. SWS is
blessed by wonderful and dedicated volunteers from local churches and
the community. Every one is paid by the grace of God to have the
opportunity to be in a place to serve. We have one lady who has through
dedication, sentimental heart, and the Lord’s Will volunteered for 22
years. |
